He did what was necessary for the well being of our children and the protection of our communities. We are grateful to him for ensuring that parents, aunts and uncles and grand parents did not succumb to the virus.

Of the unfair treatment Mr. Neumann receive from the Western Cape Education Department. He's a good principal with strong values. I know Mr. Neumann who always have the best interest of his community at heart and will stand up for their rights despite the cost.

#213

This is an injustice that cannot be tolerated. We cannot allow reactionary officials in the WCED to rule the roost in the new SA.Their time ended pre-1994.

Barry Ellman (Cape Town, 2020-09-29)

#214

WCED and DBE are bullying teachers and principals who stand up and speak up their "ill-thought-through" ideas and plans; teachers who solely have their charges and community's safety and health at heart!!

I'm signing because it is grossly unfair that he was fired for putting the best interests of his school community above a demand from his superiors. He was fired for being a true leader!

#237

We are losing genuine, hard working real Educators because a politition and beaurocracy feels their egoes are bigger than Education. It takes a village to build a nation and Mr Neumann is one of it's true leaders.

Mr Neumann is being treated unfairly and victimized by WECD.

Sheila Barron (Cape Town, 2020-09-29)

#256

I believe in the sensible decisions made at the time and the principals level headed approach... The WCED is infamous in the school community and at large for their heavy handedness when it comes to employees not following their autocracy and demanding blind following even though at the expense of the poor school communuties... It's time to stand up for what we believe in and not what they want us to believe so that they can remain in positions which they should have made place for 20years ago already. They're archaic.... MR Neumann is of the new generation of thinkers

Janice Knoll (Cape Town, 2020-09-29)

#259

I'm signing because Principals gets the blunt end of the stick. They regarded as doing nothing right. I am a principal too

Nicolette Groenewald (Gauteng, 2020-09-29)

#260

I think the WCED was wrong on this issue. The principal acted in the interest of his learners and their safety. He was bold enough to make a stance unlike many of his collegues. The WCED practice double standards as they and the MEC also refuse to follow instructions of the National Minister of Education. They must stop the witch hunt on honest principled leaders like Mr. Neumann. Justice must be served. A injury to one is an injury to all.

Jonathan Arries (Cape Town, 2020-09-29)

#262

I believe in the health and safety of the youth.

#265

His the principal Heathfield needed for a long time,as a parent I can already see the positive influence he has on the children as well as the teacher at Heathfield...everything he did was for the wellbeing of the scholars as well as teachers at Heathfield High....His a leader and leads by example....so leave our principal let him do his job to the best of his ability .....

Badieeyah Dowman (Capetown, 2020-09-29)

#267

I don't support the persecution of a community Leader who has proven his leadership and integrity over a very difficult time. Wesley Newman today, who is next. Education will be a loser without radical leaders who put learners and comminity development first. He is that leader and it is the dept of education who want to wuieten him so that they can maintain draconian rule on all who support him.

Timothy Richard Mehl (Cape Town, 2020-09-29)

#268

He is a dedicated principal committed to the school and its learners and staff.

Charles Thomas (Cape Town, 2020-09-29)

#294

I'm signing this petition because it's absolutely shocking that the Dept is taking action against Mr Newman..What I want is for them to drop the charges. Our Educational System is a Democratised one.Thank you

Merle May (Cape Town, 2020-09-29)

#300

He is right and they are wrong in there actions towards him.

Timothy Peters (Retreat, 2020-09-29)

#305

When other voices were silent, Mr Neumann stood up for the well being of his fellow colleagues and students. The high-handed attitude of the WCED to intimidate progressive educators like Mr Neumann will no longer be tolerated by our communities!

Dhiro Gihwala (Cape Town, 2020-09-29)

#306

I'm signing in because it's the right thing to do in a democracy. An injury to one is an injury to all.
Injustice must be eradicated at all levels of society.

Coby Stevens (Cape Town, 2020-09-29)

#310

I am signing because the WCED is a perfect example of apartheid style bullying and manipulation.

Jaco Le Roux (Cape Town, 2020-09-29)

#314

I Believe the WCED is targeting an innocent man. This is pure victimization and Bullying tactics.

Vasoula Bailey (Cape town, 2020-09-29)

#315

Government and especially the Education department's response to the pandemic have been laughable to say the least. We should strife to make the safety of learners a priority and listen to all concerned voices.

Errol Rudman (Cape Town, 2020-09-29)

#317

Mr Wesley Neumann has been unjustly harassed and victimised for standing up to protect his staff, learners and community from the ravages of Covid 19. The WCED has been irrational to insist that schools in the townships reopen when the pandemic was still raging all around in Cape Town' wet, cold winter. In my view, the WCED officials and the MEC have pushed a party-political decision and agenda rather than exercise the necessary caution based on medical science. All this while up to the present in the USA , teachers are challenging the reopening of schools because there is a growing feeling that certain quarters have downplayed the infection rate among children and the school community. In my view, the officials of the WCED should instead be charged for failing to adequately protect the school community from the deadly virus.

Roy Chetty (Cape Town, 2020-09-29)

#320

We need to support this principal of integrity.

Michelle Collins (Heathfield, 2020-09-29)

#321

I'm supporting this petition because the country, the world is in a crises and the principal took a decision with the his SGB in the interest of the learners, educators and support staff.

Patricia Petersen (Cape Town, 2020-09-29)

#324

For too long the WCED have considered themselves a law unto themselves. Internationally it is recognised that schools are not safe spaces in the time of Covid 19. In Britain the rise in Covid numbers is blamed on the return to school. Wesley correctly took every precaution to protect the children in his care. I salute him and his governing body for their courageous action.

Carmel Chetty (Cape Town, 2020-09-29)

#326

I’m signing because the WECD continue to support mediocrity and not are not supportive of Principals and leadership who are committed to change. What are they teaching our students? Don’t ask questions, don’t participate in robust debate and always comply even when it goes against views and values. It’s time for more school leaders to take a stand. I support Wesley Neumann.

Urho Redcliffe (Melbourne, 2020-09-29)

#327

I’m signing this because I see what the WCED is doing to our fellow principal as an act of victimization and pure racism at its worse. ENOUGH is ENOUGH. How long must this department torture people in the name of “disciplinary action”. This is insane

Nomfundo Dlakana (Mitchell’s Plain, 2020-09-30)

#330

I believe that the Western Cape likes to victimize those who apples them

Maria Engel (Cape Town, 2020-09-30)

#332

This colleague was forced by the intransigence of WCED and Dept of Ed, to prioritize the health and wellbeing of his staff and students; a priority that supercedes any instruction to the contrary. He should not face recrimination for doing his duty.

Alwyn Visagie (Cape Town, 2020-09-30)
