SUPPORT KVINFO

I worked in Gender Studies for many years, the last eight years, until 2003, as Director of NIKK. In some of our Nordic, but also Europan activities we co-operated with KVINFO with its dedicated staff. The library collection/hub seemed to be an integrated part of KVINFO, making them able to do solid work as a national center of knowledge on equality. The need for such an integration is still there as far as I can see.

It is so important for Libraries and Archives to remain independent and autonomous - its a short sighted approach to try to amalgamate them and for certain there is a risk of losing the unique character of such an individual space. The Ministry of Culture needs to reconsider!

Independent library could offer more creative programme,up to date to the contemporary challenges, and gender equality should be clearly addressed through the the name of the library. In addition, gender equality should be addressed as the visible issue to the large audiences.
