DOL UIF Investigation Request
Please read this petition and if you agree, please sign it, forward it and let us get many names so this can go to the office of the Public Protector for a full investigation of the DOL Uif Fund.
If paying uif is compulsory, this despite also paying taxes whilst working, why does DOL Uif fund only pay out for your last 4 years of contributing? What happens to all one's other money? The staff at the offices are unhelpful, always offline, payouts take months, payout amounts vary drastically.
1. I worked for 30 years. What happened to my 26 years of contributing? I have never applied for UIF in all those years and now that I am for my first time, I was shocked to discover, all my years of contributing, I am only receiving funds from my last four years?
2. I did not consent to uif deductions as like paying taxes, it is compulsory, so why is my contributions for all years worked not paid out to me?
3. Why must one go into the DOL more than 6 times for your first payment and payment continuations?
4. Why do payouts take so long? We are unemployed and have no income and depend on this money that we contributed to.
5. Staff treat you like they are doing you a favor and are rude, unhelpful and unsympathetic that you must lend traveling money only to stand in long queues and then be turned away after standing for hours and then you must come back the next day?
6. R350 grants are paid on time and to all unemployed over 18 without a history of being a tax paying citizen? I personally know of a few?
7. Submitting online is a pain as systems do not work correctly.
8. Some staff at Cape Town DOL sit and seem busy but the queue doesn't move. They walk up and down, chatting, laughing and have a nonchalant attitude.
9. When I inquired why only the last four years of employment are paid out and what happened to all my money? I was told by staff at Cape Town DOL that all the other years' monies go into a pool for other uses? Like which pool, for which uses as I did not consent to that and it is my hard earned money that I worked for which DOL Uif department deducted whereby I had no say as it is compulsory?
9. A member of staff at Cape Town DOL said they don't have time for this k@k whilst my daughter was sitting for the 5th time trying to be assisted for her maternity benefits which she applied for on 16 January to another colleague and they both laugh, is that how they speak to people?
10. A member of staff at Cape Town DOL tells people they must pray and go to church whilst waiting on their monies and be prepared to come in again?
11. Certain staff tell you that all your documents are correct as they are in a rush but then you must go back as they do not check properly leading to people waiting longer for their monies and having to lend to come back.
12. A member of staff after a long day at DOL Cape Town at three o'clock comes to people, tells them to give their documents and they will upload, only to discover they never uploaded and then again you must go back in.
13. When you ask who you can lay a complaint to, they laugh and give you a number 021 4685600 but that number doesn't work and they refuse to give the name of the superior or an email address.
14. The call centre staff cannot assist you properly other than 'escalating' and telling you to wait another 15 days and if your money is not in, to call them again but they clearly do not have the proper mandate to execute funds release?
15. WHAT HAPPENED TO ALL MY MONEY I HAVE BEEN CONTRIBUTING FOR YEARS TO A FUND, I DID NOT GIVE CONSENT TO.
I am requesting the Public Protector's office to investigate the DOL Uif Fund and its staff, as I am an unemployed tax paying citizens and do not feel I have been treated fairly, I feel robbed of my years of contributions, like I have been paying two different taxes to benefit DOL and Government with no proper explanation or accountability as to why only the last four years is paid out.
